all about ampersand-e
I thought of lots of different ways to present this section, but none of them seem any better than the tradition FAQ style... so here, in no particular order, goes...
- What's this site about anyway?
- Well, it's mostly a place for the owner to share snippets of news and thoughts and music and photography and code and other stuff that might in some way be noteworthy. It's also a handy place to play with web technologies.
- So who is this mysterious owner?
- Andrew Hindle, a.k.a. Andi, who's curriculum vitae (or resumé. take your pick) will be here soon.
- And what's his place in the world?
- When not working as a European product manager for Macromedia Andi enjoys playing music (keyboards and guitars), SCUBA diving and ocassionally writing code.
- Why 'ampersand-e'
- ampersand-e is a way to write '&-e'... there are other ways to write (or read) that combination of symbols. Play around with it and eventually it'll make sense.... Some (but not many... you know who you are) take years to figure it out, but it's really not all that complicated!
- Tell me more about how you built ampersand-e....
- The site is database-driven, and I use ColdFusion for that part. The presentation right now is all done in strict XHTML, using a nice CSS-2 stylesheet I wrote. The site passes a number of important compatability and accessability tests. If you didn't understand any of those acronyms, don't worry, it was boring anyway so you didn't miss much.
- Where can I find out more about some of those things?
- Check out the links section -- there some good information in there.
- What if I have a question you haven't already answered on this page?
- Get in touch using the information in the contacts section and I'll try to answer. If enough people ask the same question, it will get added to this page along with a suitable answer.
And there you have it. Thank you.
